Show me another »Is Ol roy good dog food?
My friend works at Wal-mart and he can get me Ol roy bags for 50% off. So its about $50 for 5 big bags, which should last me a year. Has anyone tried this brand?

Absolutely not...it would be like feeding your dog gravy soaked sawdust or cardboard. Despite claims on the bag this food has very little nutritional value...many dogs get health problems from eating this food. It contains very little to no real meat protein that dogs need..it has so much cheap fillers that it would be better goat food then dog food. Ole' Roy is one of the worst foods out there.

- Actually, it is not a very good food. Lots of fillers, corn and stuff. Which means lots and lots of poop as well. Unless you have a small breed dog, not sure how that would last you a year. Also, because it is garbage, you will have to feed your dog more of it in order for them to get the proper nutrition they need.
Try something like Innova, or Healthwise or Natural Choice. All are much better quality than the Ol Roy and you feed less, so even though it is expensive, you are feeding healthier which means less vet visits, most likely just the yearly thing. No major health issues caused by poor diet.
Sorry, but your dog deserves better. - thats like u eatin food from 7-11 for a year. Tell me if you think thats anywhere near healthy. Wal-mart won't have any good foods since its mainly commercial brands. But if thats the only place looks for these brands. Canidae, Orijen, Wellness, Wellness CORE, Blue Buffalo, Blue Wilderness. Those are some of the best foods out there. It may be a little more expensive, but your dog will eat less of the food per serving because its the nutrients it needs rather than just fillers like corn and wheat.

Done a lot of research trying to find good food for my dogs - it's about the WORST dog food you can buy. It is full of fillers and soy and wheat and grains and has almost no meat. DON'T buy it, it's not worth $50 for 5 bags. It's worth nothing.
- If your dog gets soft stool it is bad from dry dog food! If it is hard it is good dog food! just think you would not like to eat nasty food so why let your dog! Also read the by products to make the dog food!

The worst possible food to feed your dog, actually all brands that sold at Wal-marts are on the D list.

- It's actually probably the worst. And you shouldn't buy more food than you'll use in 3 months.
- It is about as good as eating McDonald's 3x a day.

Once or twice when we were caring for a family member's dog. It does the job. The dog food police will say to only get the most expensive kinds. If your dog is doing fine on what he or she eats now, stick with that. -
