Making another pitch for a huge economic stimulus plan, President-elect Barack Obama says "a bad situation could become dramatically worse" unless Congress takes action. Obama's comments come in a speech set to be delivered later today, but excerpts have already been released.

The Blair House, across the street from the White House, is booked for a former Australian prime minister. Top Senate Democrats signal a softening in their initial opposition to seating Roland Burris in the Senate, praising the man and saying the matter is up to a court in Illinois. Burris' appointment to the seat held by President-elect Barack Obama is controversial because it was made by Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who's been arrested on federal corruption charges.
